People Are Like Books

A life without struggle is a rare. Every day the media floods the world with negativity because that is considered drama of interest. To often do we forget to appreciate each other and the tough lives we have lived. Humans are like books, each one with a story just waiting to be told.

The McCandle Project wants a chapter of your life to be in our Story Time. As a small team, that may take a while to accomplish, but we would love nothing more than to make you feel seen. Unfortunately, for the good of our community, we need to set some guidelines for stories and art.

Artistic Vision

We have few restrictions when it comes to art. The art shouldn't be explicit, but it should still represent your positive and or negative feelings. This art should also be digitized in some way, with your trademark on the piece to prevent corruption. One does not need to upload both art and a story. You can do so if you so desire.

The Story Must Be No Longer Than Two Pages

This isn't because we want to butcher your story. We'd love nothing more then to read about all of your strives towards self worth and redemption. However, with so many stories, it isn't easy to read through them all. We hope you understand.

The Story Must Be Formatted Correctly

This format isn't a complicated one. It could have a title, it could also not have a title. What we really want is for it to be 12 font size in Times New Roman. That makes our life much easier. We would also like to know whether or not you would like to remain anonymous at the top of your work. If not, then we would love to add your name to the story.

The Story Needs A Positive Ending

To preface this, this is not a project meant to vent despair. This is a project meant to offer hope. With that said, this chapter of your life needs to be one with a happy or hopeful ending. We want to know why you keep pushing through the dark and how you do so. We hope to inspire others with your fascinating story.

With that in mind, here are some writing prompts to get you thinking!

  • This was me surviving the darkest moment of my life...

  • How I found peace with those I've lost...

  • The day I new the worst was over...

  • The thing that kept pushing me through the dark...

  • What I found by not giving up...

  • This person, place, and or thing is my hero...

  • A point of happiness when I thought I could never be happy...

  • Dear me from the past, things do get better...

Email us below with your story in PDF format. Art should be in either JPEG or PNG format. Add your name (and if you prefer to stay anonymous) and a little message if you have any questions or need some help.
