ABOUT OUR COMMUNITY

The Full Story

"All I wanted was a cause," began Jax McCandle. "We are surrounded by so much human suffering and I wanted to help. I needed something to cling to, but I was never certain where to turn. Finally I decided that I would simply help them all."

The McCandle project began in 2023 as a means to reach out to major mental health organizations. Now it is a verified organization under law. The goal of our project is to give people a simplistic way of joining the fight against mental health. By interviewing our peers, gaging hope into communities, and forwarding people to helpful services, The McCandle Project is one step of a very tough journey.

We decided to work with Crisis Text Line, NAMI, TWLOHA, Project HEAL, and Active Minds because we wanted to cater to multiple different types of mental health awareness. Whether that be supporting the recovery of emotionally traumatized individuals, or making sure that everyone has a place to go. We feel that these groups are good at heart, and so, we became ambassadors and fundraisers for them.

Our dream is to build our organization with the help of digital volunteers or Digital Advocates. In 2019 a YouTube movement called PMA began starting with YouTuber Sean McLoughlin. We credit him with the inspiration for this concept.

"It's all about hope. It takes an immensely strong individual to wake up every day and choose life. Humanity is prone to follow a pattern. When you are happy, you want to stay happy. When depression hits, sometimes that hopelessness is a comfort. This small project can't pull you out of the hole you've dug yourself, but it can offer a rope."

We celebrate every day people for stumbling through the unknown. We shed light on those who fight for self-improvement; a light in the dark.
